1895 Trapper, 45-70 Government

The Ruger-built Marlin 1895 Trapper in .45-70 Government is the modernized stainless trapper-length variant of the iconic 1895 lever-action rifle, built for the close-quarters big-game role at which the .45-70 has excelled for over a century. Manufactured by Ruger after their acquisition of the Marlin brand, the 1895 Trapper pairs the original 1895 lever architecture with a 16.1" stainless barrel, large lever loop, threaded muzzle, and modern accessory-mounting features. Equally well-suited to bear country, dangerous-game backup, or guide work.

The .45-70 in a 16.1" trapper-length carbine produces serious stopping power in a package short enough to maneuver in heavy brush. Ruger-era manufacturing has tightened tolerances throughout, and the stainless construction resists corrosion in wet or coastal conditions. The threaded muzzle accepts suppressors and muzzle devices, while the large lever loop accommodates gloved hands. A black laminate stock or gray laminate (configuration-dependent) keeps weight manageable.
